The brief
Commissioned by long-term partner Scrubs Contract Ltd, we were appointed to replace the flooring throughout the food and leisure area at Virgin Atlantic’s headquarters at Gatwick Airport. The existing Bolon tile flooring had deteriorated significantly over time and required a full uplift and replacement.
A key requirement was that all works be carried out entirely outside of normal working hours to ensure there was no impact on day-to-day trading. With a hard deadline of Monday morning to return the space to full operation, the entire project – from uplift through to installation and finishing – had to be completed within a single weekend.
The action
Working within a tight out-of-hours window, our team uplifted the existing Bolon tile flooring throughout the canteen and leisure areas. To create visual interest and define the servery zone, we designed and installed a feature area around the food servery using Tarkett ID70 Authentics wood-effect vinyl tiles – delivering a warm, contemporary aesthetic while maintaining a flush finish with no change in floor levels throughout.
The wider canteen and leisure areas were fitted with Tarkett Commercial IQ Surface, a high-performance safety flooring ideally suited to busy catering and commercial environments.

All works were planned and executed to ensure the space was fully handed back and ready for trading by Monday morning.
