Grand Designs in Dulwich in polished concrete
London / Residential
ARDEX PanDOMO polished concrete / 65m2
The brief
This Victorian renovation project required industrial-look polished concrete flooring to reflect the building’s original use as a dairy.
The action
Our clients Andrew and Beth (an experienced interior designer at Imperfect Interiors) were keen to use polished concrete to create industrial-effect flooring for their home in Dulwich, London.
At our London showroom, we shared extensive examples of the diverse colours, textures and finishes achievable in polished concrete. This helped Beth and Andrew to select ARDEX PanDOMO polished concrete for its natural look and soft undulating patterns.
Using PanDOMO, we created the colour requested by Beth: a ‘typical grey concrete’. This may sound a little silly, but polished concrete flooring comes in a spectrum of colours, so a natural grey is actually quite an unusual choice!
This choice fitted Beth’s overall design scheme which aimed to achieve a natural look, to allow original dairy features to be retained and celebrated.
With such a challenging renovation, we worked flexibly to fit the overall schedule. Once onsite, our ARDEX-qualified installation team got to work, laying the polished concrete flooring to create the required natural ‘imperfectly perfect’ finish, which blended perfectly with this historic home.
Results
Our clients were very happy with the end result, and we were proud to see their ambitious home renovation project featuring on Channel 4’s Grand Designs.
