The brief
The Metropolis Building is being renovated into a multi-use workspace and retail destination, occupied by various companies. McLaren Group needed a new floor finish installed to support a large open-plan office being used as a marketing suite for showcasing the wider office spaces to prospective tenants.
The programme was extremely tight — from quote request to completion in under two weeks — with a strict budget as the works were an add-on to the original contract. The central London location also meant deliveries and access needed to be carefully coordinated to fit within site restrictions.
The action
We installed Karndean Looselay planks directly over the existing raised access flooring, providing a clean, modern finish suitable for a high-traffic, client-facing marketing environment.
To remove delivery risk and stay in control of time slots, we arranged for all materials to be delivered to our warehouse first, then re-delivered to site at the exact times agreed with the contractor. With the deadline fixed, we deployed our inhouse operatives who could accommodate late days and out-of-hours working where required. Our contracts manager attended site daily to liaise between our team and the client, resolving queries immediately and keeping the programme moving.
The results
The project was completed in four days, within the required timeframe and budget. By managing deliveries in-house and using trusted labour, the installation ran smoothly with no issues on site.
The finished floor helped elevate the open-plan marketing suite, supporting the client’s goal of presenting the building’s potential to incoming tenants.
