Creating a functional, safe and welcoming community space.
The brief
To supply, fit and finish a variety of commercial flooring products across the ambitious Timebridge Community Centre redevelopment project.
The action
We worked across multiple zones to complete this regeneration project led by Croydon Borough Council.
The two-storey Centre includes provision for family, community and youth centres, a nursery and a food bank. There are also conference and meeting facilities, two studios, a social space and a multi-purpose hall. This complex variety of community functions required a wide variety of flooring products to make each fit for purpose.
We began with a thorough site survey, which identified a lignite impurity in the existing concrete sub-floor. To ensure this did not impact the long-term performance of our flooring, we sought and applied technical advice from our supplier.
Our team handled all flooring logistics, delivering all materials to enable our install team to work efficiently, in a way that minimised waste. This included HSE & EN 13845 compliant Polysafe safety vinyl flooring for use across all wet areas, and commercial Burmatex Infinity carpet for the office spaces.
For the multi-purpose hall, we selected Taraflex® Multi-Use Flooring which is EN Standard 14904 compliant, easy to maintain and offers friction protection, plus bacteriostatic and fungistatic treatment – ideal for a range of different sports and additional uses.
Finally, we fitted two shades of Polyflor Luxury Vinyl Tiles across the front-of-house areas to create an inviting first impression for the local community.
The result
This complex project was delivered to tight project deadlines, despite additional Covid-19 safety measures on site. The finished result is a brilliant resource for the local community, and we are proud to have been part of making it happen.
