The brief
To supply and fit slip resistant vinyl flooring, in a dementia-friendly colour scheme throughout the wards, corridors, clinical and communal spaces in seven healthcare settings.
The action
Working as trusted flooring partners for Perfect Homes Ltd, we managed the installation of vinyl flooring across seven healthcare settings.
To ensure all safety requirements were met, we advised on a selection of Altro flooring products including: Altro Wood Safety, Altro Aquarius and Altro Suprema. Colours were carefully selected to create a dementia-friendly environment, where contrasting shades help patients to navigate their surroundings more easily.
Our experienced fitters used a cap and cove system to achieve a seamless finish at edge of the vinyl flooring, finishing each floor 10cm up the wall to ease maintenance and keep hygiene levels consistently high.
In all locations, we worked with nursing teams to plan an efficient work schedule to ensure patient safety. By using F.Ball’s Stopgap 1200 PRO to prepare the floor surfaces, we delivered a rapid turnaround time of under four hours for each area, which minimised any disruption to daily hospital life.
In addition to vinyl flooring, we installed highly-durable Heckmondwike Hippo barrier matting to each reception area to reduce the impact of heavy foot traffic in each hospital.
The results
Through great collaboration with the brilliant healthcare teams in all seven hospitals, we achieved a great end result, playing our part in enhancing each space, whilst also keeping safety levels high for both staff and patients.
